Dance Education and Creation
The Center aims to implement the objectives of ORPAS - ROPPA in close collaboration with the various partners in the field of dance.
The Center brings together the expertise needed to help partners develop a professional dance policy in Rwanda by organizing internships, workshops and full-time training. On the medium term the Center can develop into a dance hub for the sub region and on long-term for East Africa.
ORPAS-ROPPA Dance Creation Studio
The ORPAS-ROPPA Dance Creation Studio consists of two small dance studios dedicated for dance creation for young resident or non –resident choreographers.
The outside studio is a 36 m² sand studio. We call it the ‘Wesley Ruzibiza Studio’ after our Chairman and Rwanda’s first professional dancer or ‘Le Petit Sable’ in honor of l’Ecole des Sables in Dakar (Senegal).
The inside studio is a 30 m² studio with a wooden sprung floor and is named after the studio’s owner, our legal adviser Mr. L. Bugabo and is called the ‘Laurent Bugabo studio'.
The studio spaces will be available at the beginning of March 2018 and will also have a sleeping room, a dressing room, a small kitchen, washing and toilet facilities.
The idea is to give resident or non-resident young choreographers the opportunity to create new work.
In return they will teach a daily course to professional and semi- professional dancers.
